Monte Alto, Tx. – IT is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of Mrs. Maria Anzaldua (Pérez) on February 6, 2026. at the age of 89, who passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Maria Anzaldua was born on July 13, 1936 to Filemon Perez and Antonia Reveles in Zacatecas, Mexico.
Maria was a strong-willed and nurturing soul, who was the heart of every room—welcoming all with open arms. As a loving mother, devoted grandmother, and constant source of laughter, Maria made everyone feel at home. Maria’s humor and warmth will be forever cherished.
She is survived by her children Genoveva Gorostiza (Jaime), Francisco Anzaldua (Cecilia), José Luis Anzaldua (Becky), Norma Perez (Jerry), Olivia Lopez (Armando), Amanda Martinez (Eduardo), Ricardo Anzaldua (Maria), Rubén Anzaldua, Julia Anzaldua, and Arnie Anzaldua. Mrs. Maria Anzaldua was also blessed with 30 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Maria Anzaldua is preceded in death by her Husband: Jose Francisco Anzaldua, her parents, Filemon and Antonia Pérez, her daughter: Susie Anzaldua, Martha Anzaldua, and Oscar Anzaldua.
Her legacy of love, strength, and laughter will remain forever in our hearts.
The Family of Mrs. Maria Anzaldua invites friends and family to attend his visitation on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from 2:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Eternal Light Funeral Home located in Elsa, Texas. Mrs. Maria Anzaldua will have her funeral mass at Christ the King Catholic church in Monte Alto on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 11 a.m. with burial to at Valle de la Paz Cemetery in Hargill, Texas. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Eternal Light Funeral Home of Elsa, TX.
